25 Avocado Toasts So Delicious, We're Not Even Mad That We Can't Afford A House

The avocado craze started a few years ago and it has not waned in intensity. The demand and supply curves of avocado have been going haywire for some time. The top producers of the fruit are Mexico, Peru and California. They have been having a difficult time keeping up with the required production numbers. As such, the cost of avocados has significantly risen within the last few years. The cost has somewhat come down this year but many distributors are having a hard time keeping up with customer demand.

This raises the question of why avocados became so popular. Well, in the mid to late 2010s, the clean eating movement with juices, salads and super foods gained more attention. Recipes for avocado began taking over the internet as people started realizing how healthy they are. There are some who also blame health-conscious millennials – the hipster subculture in particular - for the skyrocketing cost of avocados. Whether or not that is true, most people in this era are trying to live better and longer. So, it’s logical that people go crazy for healthier options.

If you happen to type the word avocado in any search engine you will most likely get results for avocado toast. You would be hard pressed to find a coffee or sandwich shop – especially the swanky ones – that does not sell avocado toasts. Even though the prices are often ridiculous people fork out cash to gobble up some of the creamy green magic.

The craze has gotten so popular that older people like to make fun of us millennial avo-lovin' types, by suggesting that if we stopped buying so much, we'd be able to afford a down payment on a house. To that we say, so be it, we'll take the toast - but maybe we should start making it ourselves. If you love avocado toasts feast your eyes on these recipes below. You will get some inspiration to start making your own and save some of your coins for a rainy day.
