Atlanta Taco Restaurant Is Hosting A 'Bird Box' Dinner Where Everyone Will Eat Blindfolded

Guac y Margys, a self-described margarita bar in Atlanta, is jumping on the Bird Box bandwagon and hosting a dinner inspired by the Netflix hit on January 25. The event is a chance for fans of the film to enjoy tacos and margaritas while blindfolded.

Guac y Margys usually serves two to three taco varieties a day. These include meat tacos, such as barbacoa, carnitas and chicken tacos, as well as vegetarian tacos, such as cauliflower, chickpea, crispy tofu and tiki tacos.

The restaurant also serves an array of margaritas, such as the Keepin' It 120 margarita with Partida silver tequila, fresh lime, agave, cilantro and salt, and the Miguel el Matador margarita with 1800 Reposado tequila, Cointreau, fresh lime, agave, cilantro and salt, among others.

Tickets include two tacos, a dip and a margarita. If guests are able to guess what kind of tacos and margaritas they’ve been served, they will get a free cookie for dessert. Ticket sales end January 23. Guac y Margys is selling only 42 tickets for the dinner, so Atlanta residents are advised to act quickly.

Guac y Margys opened last summer. Founded by David Barton, Sebastian Romano and Troy Meyers, whose motto is community, friendship, conversation, and good vibes, the restaurant hosts a variety of theme nights, including Seinfeld, Friends and Will & Grace Trivia Nights.

In March, Guac y Margys will participate in the Pub Crawl on the BeltLine: Spring Edition.  The event will take place from Inman Park to Piedmont Park on the Atlanta BeltLine, which connects the city’s most popular restaurants and bars. The crawl includes five complimentary beverages as well as food and drink specials.

Bird Box, a post-apocalyptic film directed by Susanne Bier and starring Sandra Bullock, has inspired numerous challenges, many unsafe. In Australia, Netflix had encouraged fans to participate in the Bird Box challenge, in which they would play popular video games while blindfolded.

Unfortunately, the challenge has been replicated by many who undertake day-to-day activities while blindfolded, which has resulted in numerous accidents, including a car crash in Utah in which a 17-year-old drove into oncoming traffic while blindfolded. In response, Netflix has dissuaded viewers from taking part in dangerous challenges.
