Chipotle Is Partnering With Dating App Hinge In Buy-One-Get-One-Free Burrito Promotion

Those looking for love and free food are in luck-- Hinge and Chipotle Mexican Grill are teaming up to give aspiring sweethearts a free burrito.

The dating app and the chain of fast casual restaurants are looking to make navigating the dating world easier. They are proposing  a buy one, get one free deal, so you will get a burrito (or a bowl, salad or tacos) and get one free for your date. To claim the deal, you will first need to have or get Hinge. Users will get an email with a unique code for the deal and to redeem, they have to show their code at checkout and bring a date. You can take advantage of this BOGO deal until Dec. 31, according to Bustle.

Hinge, "the relationship app", uses Facebook friends to facilitate connections. It looks at those people users have liked in the past to recommend matches, gives users prompts to start conversations and lets users know who has already "liked" them. Hinge claims that i is meant for people who are looking for the real thing. According to their website, that’s the reason why 3 out of 4 first dates from Hinge lead to second dates and why Hinge is the #1 mobile-first dating app to be mentioned in The New York Times wedding section.

According to Hinge, they recently discovered that chats on the app containing Chipotle were 2.4x more likely to result in a date than the average in-app conversation and that those specifically talking about chorizo resulted in the most dates. They also found that those who mentioned queso in their profile were 70 percent more likely to receive a "like" than profiles that didn't.

Jean-Marie McGrath, director of communications at Hinge, talked to Bustle about this: "We think part of the reason our data shows that mentioning 'Chipotle' impacts Hinge conversations is because people love to chat about, and bond over, the foods that they love." She also added that "food is a social experience that people are passionate about and can have fun with, making it one of the best ways to connect with your matches, both on and off the app."

There have been numerous deals or campaigns that dating apps use to try to get some attention, but this one surely crushes the competition-- Hinge and Chipotle were smart enough to realize that the way to any lover's heart is through their stomach, and in this case with free Mexican food.
