Flamin' Hot Nacho Doritos Are A New 'Taste Experience,' Alright

Following in the footsteps of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, Doritos has entered the Flamin’ Hot game with their latest flavor, Flamin’ Hot Nacho Doritos.

The spicy chip was released on January 10th, and has the internet abuzz with people trying to find the product on the shelves of their local store.

Regular Nacho Cheese Doritos have been around since 1972. The flavored chips have built up a massive fan-base so dedicated, that Taco Bell took note and released the popular Doritos Locos Tacos in 2012. Couple that with the culture that surrounds Flamin’ Hot Cheetos - a product that has even acted as the primary ingredient for themed pop-up restaurants - and it is a near no-brainer that the flavor combination of Flamin’ Hot Nacho Doritos was a long time coming.

"Doritos Flamin’ Hot Nacho is a new, unique flavor that gives fans the essence of the original Doritos Nacho Cheese with a flamin’ hot kick we know snackers love,” stated Senior Director of Marketing for Frito-Lay North America, Leslie Vesper, in a press release.

The chip is also described as a “taste experience.”

The Recipe put that statement to the test and, having tasted the product, can report that Flamin’ Hot Nacho Doritos are worth the hype.

The flavor is what you would expect it to be: Doritos Nacho Cheese coated in Flamin’ Hot spices. Be warned: these chips are spicy. So spicy in fact, that the heat factor was more reminiscent of the Xxtra Flamin’ Hot Cheetos than the regular Flamin’ style. The heat sneaks up on you after eating only a few chips, and lingers along with a surprisingly pleasant citrusy aftertaste. Finally, while you may be able to easily tackle a bag of regular Doritos on your own in one sitting, you would undoubtedly be risking some decent heartburn if you were to do the same with the Flamin’ Hot Nacho Doritos. The fiery flavoring is just overwhelming enough to make the snack-sized bag the perfect size to curb your craving.

Although Flamin’ Hot Nacho Doritos are good for what they are, the spicy chips are probably better served as a sporadic change-up to your normal Doritos routine. It would be a stretch to think that Flamin’ Hot Nacho Doritos would replace the tried and true regular nacho cheese flavor.

We just wonder when the Flamin’ Hot Nacho Doritos taco shells will show up at Taco Bell.
