Foods and condiments go hand in hand. Unless if you somehow like your food bland and uninteresting, there's no use for foods not to be paired with the condiments of your choice. Sure, you might (and likely will) prefer different condiments compared to my personal preferences, but that's what makes the world go round. It'd be so boring if all of us liked the same things and shared the same thoughts. Food, however, can bring us to the table together.
But I'm going to jump into a topic that's not really talked about on a daily basis in a little bit. I won't forget about the foods that taste like our favorite flavors, as they make up a good amount of shelved products sitting in our local grocery stores. From ketchup Lay's to Sriracha popcorn, I'm sure that you're going to develop a hankering for at least a few of the foods that I'll mention in my list. If you've already taste tested a few items, then that's good on your part, and I'll give you brownie points for going out of your comfort zone.
By now, you should realize that there are a lot of comfort foods that feature favored flavors that can help us feel like we're making ourselves at home whether we're working at the office or staying in a hotel. Here are 25 foods that taste like our favorite flavors. As always, feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section. Hope you'll enjoy my list!
25 POP! Gourmet Sriracha Popcorn
As you may already know, Huy Fong Foods' Sriracha hot chili sauce has somehow shifted the tastebuds of folks all over the world. It's been found in everything from poke bowls to beef burgers.
And I've recently discovered a new discovery, as Sriracha can be consumed in another form—Sriracha popcorn, thanks to the POP! Gourmet brand based in Seattle. This trio of flavors—butter, salt, and spice—will have you thinking twice about the typical buttered popcorn that you usually get in stores.
24 Ketchup Lay's
If you've been searching for an uncanny Lay's flavor, look no further.
If you decide to take a vacation, you'll likely want to touch down in Canada. Why's that? If you're in love with ketchup, you're going to love Canada. You can discover and munch on ketchup-flavored Lay's because not only is Canada nicer than America; it's also a country that makes something uncanny like ketchup-flavored Lay's sound like a scrumptious snack even if you're not much of the experimenting type of person.
23 Pizza Pringles
Pizza makes people happy. Pringles also makes people happy. Combine pizza and Pringles together, and you'll contribute your required part to the party. Who knows? The party might even be known as the happiest party on earth, too.
Anyways, Pizza Pringles can be your thing, especially if you're not sure that the guests want to deal with the altered flavor of cold pizza the next morning. The guests can simply snack on these potato chips and bring some home in plastic Zip-Loc bags if they'd like.
22 Wingstop Cajun Wings
You certainly can't go wrong with the good old Cajun flavor in the South, but you can now get Cajun flavor if you're not in the South. There's a Cajun rub for the boneless or bone-in wings at Wingstop, which is pretty cool considering the fact that it's convenient and crisp, no matter where you're at.
The Louisiana Cajun cooking in New Orleans has always been a thing, and this modern twist to the flavor has brought a whole new perspective on the definition of Cajun cuisine.
21 Curry Nissin Ramen
Curry powder may not be a classic flavor in the US, but it's shaped part of the food culture here since its peak use in the '80s. It's healthy, useful, and complementary to just about any combination of meats, vegetables, and noodles. Therefore, it should be a staple in your pantry if it hasn't already found its way there. Its health benefits stem from turmeric and curcumin, which both possess anti-inflammatory and antioxidant powers that could help you and your existing health conditions.
Curry even found itself in Nissin ramen, so if you don't have much time on your hands, this bag of noodles is right for you.
20 Cheese Blend Gardetto's
Cheese lovers, take a look at this specific entry.
You already know that Italian cheese blend works well with a variety of dishes, including pasta, pizza, and flatbread—just to name a few. But did you know that Cheese Blend Gardetto's exist? Oh yeah! They're the classic combination of Mozzarella, Parmesan, Provolone, and Romano. This snack mix may not be the real deal, but you got to remember that they're made using the authentic recipe of the Gardetto family that founded a Wisconsin-based bakery in 1932.
19 Utah Cheeseburger
While you may know very little about Utah, you'll likely want to head over to Chubby's Cafe for a Utah Cheeseburger. What sets the Utah Cheeseburger apart from the classic cheeseburger is that it features fry sauce (a UT delicacy made of mayo, ketchup, french onion dip mix, and pickles) instead of the standard mayo and mustard.
So, if you've got a thing for fry sauce, then you should stop by Pleasant Grove, UT or Saratoga Springs, UT and give the Utah Cheeseburger a try!
18 Pickle Slush
These days, you can get any food or drink in just about any flavor that's been made available in stores, including the Pickle Slush at Sonic Drive-In! Yes, Pickle Slush!
Dill pickles sound like an obscure flavor, but there are some folks out there who actually like that tart flavor of dill pickles in the form of the beloved slush. That's their personal opinion, but I'd rather not give this slush a try. I just remembered this slush, and I had to include this in my list, as it's an acquired taste.
17 Starbucks S'mores Frappuccino
The Starbucks S'mores Frappuccino is more of a summer blended beverage than anything else, but hey... it'll likely make most if not all of your marshmallow dreams come true!
You can enjoy the S'mores Frappuccino in the comfort of your own home or local Starbucks store without the camping tents, sleeping bags, and bug repellent. It's the layered beverage that allows you to taste all the delicious s'mores flavors—marshmallow, chocolate, graham cracker crumbles—with beloved coffee without a campfire. Indoor camping can't get any better than that.
16 Blue Diamond Sweet Thai Chili Almonds
You can't go wrong with sweet Thai chili sauce, and this is coming from a gal who's part Vietnamese. Yep, Vietnam has similar flavors that resemble the sweet and savory flavors in Thailand.
Anyhow, sweet Thai chili sauce is the perfect mix of sweet and spicy, as it's made out of red peppers, rice wine vinegar, garlic, fish sauce, and sometimes sugar. That's where the perfectly balanced flavor comes from. But did you know you can satisfy your craving for sweet Thai chili sauce AND Blue Diamonds at the same time? Yes, that's right! You can find a container at your local grocery store!
15 Pumpkin Spice Cheerios
You can get your pumpkin spice fix at Starbucks, but did you know that you can get that same fix through Cheerios? Yeah, that's right! Cheerios are made of whole grain and are reportedly heart healthy, but now, you don't have to sacrifice flavor for health reasons!
The limited-edition Pumpkin Spice Cheerios are a season breakfast food, but they're the same Cheerios you know and love... and maybe love a little bit more. After all, they essentially taste like autumn in each and every spoon.
14 Bottomless Garlic Herb Fries
If you're a Red Robin regular like myself, you're well aware that Bottomless Garlic Herb Fries are only $1.49 extra, and that's a darn good deal, as you can ask your server for extra helpings after you've polished off your first helping.
The garlic and herb seasoning has always been a favorite flavor of ours, and there's no doubt that it's an extra dose of awesome ever since they've been tossed with french fries, which are one of my favorite snacks in fast food and diner establishments alike.
13 Chicken In A Biskit Crackers
Let's take a stroll down memory lane and look at an old-school snack called "Chicken in a Biskit," which was initially released in the United States in 1964.
Okay, I'll admit that I'm a '90s baby, but these were a classic junk food that always hit the spot even when I'm in the office. Plus, there are so many flavors of the In a Biskit collection, so there's something for everyone in this world. That's another reason why you should give these savory crackers a chance.
12 Bubblegum Cheese
Alright, alright, alright...
Bubblegum-flavored cheese isn't an actual food item that's sold on the shelves at your local grocery store, but it's still an item that's one of our favorite flavors. But we'd have to either love bubblegum so much or reach a high level of daredevil to try such a concoction that was first developed at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. I mean, where else would we find college students who are trying to help parents get their kids to eat more cheese?
11 Snyder's of Hanover Honey Mustard & Onion Pretzel Pieces
I love honey mustard. Do you?
Well, maybe you don't have a thing for honey mustard, but it's all good. Let me just tell you about Snyder's of Hanover Honey Mustard Pretzel Pieces, which are the perfect snack for those who are somehow passionate about both pretzels and honey mustard. There's nothing like sweet and salty combined for a savory snack to munch on, so let me excuse myself, as I'll head to a nearby store for a bag of these in a little bit.
10 Sea Salt & Pepper Good Thins
Sea Salt & Pepper Good Thins are the perfect snack for you and your family. They're convenient, healthy, and gluten-free. Moreover, these crackers come in a classic seasoning combination that you all know and love.
So, if you're looking for a lower-calorie and lower-fat alternative than the leading potato chips, look no further. They aren't just a nutritious option; they were also made in the production factory with no artificial flavors and preservatives. Plus, they don't have cholesterol, hydrogenated oils, and high fructose corn syrup. Feel free to indulge.
9 Peanut Butter M&M'S
Some of you grew up on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, which were a common staple in the average lunch box of an elementary school student. But even though you're likely in high school or further now, you'll need a portable snack as you're a busy type now.
Peanut butter M&M'S are the answer to your need for on-the-go snacks! They're a sweet and savory combination of milk chocolate and peanut butter in a colorful chocolate shell. They're perfect for your multi-flavor cravings and possible topping hankerings!
8 Coconut Pineapple Tic Tacs
If you like Pina Coladas and Tic Tacs, you might want to check out the Pina Colada Tic Tacs the next time you're at the grocery store so you can freshen your breath before that important work or romantic event.
Like the packaging says, the Pina Colada Tic Tacs are a flavor-changing experience in your mouth, which will likely blow your mind. You've likely never thought this way about one of your go-to drinks, but it's all good, as I wasn't aware of this specific breath mint either.
7 Strawberry Cheesecake Kit Kat
Oh, the good old strawberry cheesecake from your local bakery. But there happens to be a new twist on the fruit-flavored dessert, and that's the Strawberry Cheesecake Kit Kat that can be found across the Pacific in the one and only Japan. So if you're into strawberries, cheesecake, and chocolate, you'll likely develop an acquired taste for these one-of-a-kind chocolates.
Oh, Japan... you haven't failed us when it comes to new and different flavor combinations than what we're used to seeing in the States. Oh, and you could order Strawberry Cheesecake Kit Kat on Amazon.
6 Birthday Cake Oreos
Every day can be your birthday if you get a hold of a box of Birthday Cake Oreos for your snacking needs on a daily basis.
There was Birthday Cake Ice Cream available at Baskin-Robbins, and now, there's Birthday Cake Oreos, which taste delicious (I've recently tried these crunchy cookies!). I could've eaten the entire package, but I swear by green coffee bean extract, so I can't snack more than I should. But for you, you could dig in, as they're the sweet Oreos with the attention-grabbing sprinkles that scream "BIRTHDAY CAKE!"
5 Hostess Sea Salt Caramel Cup Cakes
Ah, sea salt caramel. Ah, Hostess.
Two of my favorite novelties are in a delicious combination appropriately called "Hostess Sea Salt Caramel Cupcakes." These cupcakes can be found at a store in my city. There's another plus, too. This super scrumptious flavor also comes in Zingers, so if you're not into Cup Cakes, then you'll have another option to select at the store. Hostess was one of the biggest snack food brands in my childhood, and they continue to remain relevant up to this day.
4 Hope Kale Pesto Hummus
If you're hoping for a quick pick-me-up, just continue reading this entry.
So, there's this dip called "Hope Kale Pesto Hummus," and it's not your run-of-the-mill type of hummus. It features extra virgin olive oil, organic kale, and basil for a tasty, full-bodied flavor that will likely be a hit, no matter where you bring it. I'm all for trying new foods, and this unusual flavor of hummus has been added to my bucket list of foods. It's a healthy, flavorful, and fun dip that complements most snacks.
3 Dannon Light & Fit Greek Caramel Macchiato Yogurt
Contrary to popular belief, Dannon is a French dairy product company that's based in Paris, France and initially founded in Barcelona, Spain.
Dannon has a wide variety of flavors, including Caramel Macchiato, which happens to be one of my favorite espresso beverages at Starbucks. Now that I'm aware of this yogurt flavor, there might be some competition, as I may have a hankering for a caramel macchiato in the middle of nowhere and there won't be any Starbucks in a 10-mile radius.
2 Smoked Salmon Philadelphia Cream Cheese
At the end of the day, everything just seems a little bit better with the creamy taste of Philly...and you don't have to be in Philly to get a taste of Philly.
You can get a container of Philadelphia smoked salmon cream cheese and spread it over a bagel for a dose of Philly-based flavor. If you're wondering why I'm telling you this, it's because Kraft farmers supply Philly with fresh milk featuring real cream for the cream-cheese-making process, which can take up to a week. There's your fun fact of the day.
1 Chicken Mushroom Maruchan
Can't decide between Cream of Chicken Soup and Cream of Mushroom Soup? Don't worry! You can always open and cook up a bag of Chicken Mushroom Maruchan Ramen in less than two minutes!
Chicken Mushroom Maruchan Ramen combines the fun flavors of chicken and mushroom in a portable bag that you can stash in your backpack or briefcase and bring to just any place where you need to be! This mouthwatering combination is a tale of two flavors that you should try unless you're a vegetarian or vegan.
