Kentucky Fried Chicken and NIGO have teamed up to create a Colonel Sanders-inspired fashion line.
Despite being in the business of selling fried chicken, KFC is a very fashion-conscious brand. KFC Australia already launched a youth clothing line in the land down under, and now the Colonel is providing the same treatment to the Land of the Rising Sun, and he’s teaming up with a Japanese fashion designer to do it.
NIGO’s “Human Made” fashion label collaborated with Kentucky Fried Chicken to create a tasteful collection of items called the “Human Made x KFC Capsule Collection.” Not exactly the most imaginative moniker, but then again, NIGO has always been about self-explanatory titles.
NIGO himself took the time to travel all the way to Louisville, Kentucky where the KFC Headquarters is located to gather ideas and inspiration for his new fashion line. He also went to the Colonel Sanders Museum to learn more about the legendary fried chicken connoisseur, as well as the KFC test kitchen to see how a modern bucket of chicken was made.
We’re not told if NIGO learned the precise combination of 11 herbs and spices necessary to create Kentucky Fried Chicken, but we’re not not told it either.
Available products include the KFC Factory Jacket modeled after the Colonel's very own jacket, a 70's style racing jacket, KFC and Human Made-branded hoodies, t-shirts, and bandanas, as well as a KFC Tote Bag that is sure to make everyone around you think you're carrying home a delicious meal of fried chicken.
"When we heard of Nigo's obsession with Colonel Sanders, we had to invite him for a rare tour of the Colonel's personal archives to help inspire him," KFC Director of Media and Digital Marketing Steve Kelly said in a press release. "We're humbled to work alongside both Hypemaker and Nigo in debuting this collection and are proud to have been a small part of his creative process."
The Capsule Collection was briefly available to Americans at a pop-up store in New York on November 16th, but now is only available in Japan. Local residents can order online or at Human Made’s Tokyo location while supplies last.
