If you have committed to a healthier 2019 through better eating habits, you might want to move onto the next article. For the rest of us, Shake Shack has some deliciously good news.

The fast-food burger chain has revealed a brand new milkshake flavor for the month of January, that flavor being inspired by the coffee-flavored Italian dessert known as Tiramisu.

The Tiramisu shake combines mascarpone, coffee, and vanilla frozen custard, followed by a dusting of cocoa powder and crumbles of amaretti cookie on top. If that sounds good to you, you’ll need to head to Shake Shack this month, as the shake is reportedly being offered as a limited-time menu item, only to be available through the end of January.

The Tiramisu shake joins the humble list of Shake Shack’s other flavors, including vanilla, chocolate, caramel, black & white, strawberry, and coffee - all of which are hand-spun and available as malts. Other shake flavors have come and gone - such as the Chocolate Peppermint, Christmas Cookie, and White Mocha offerings during the last holiday season - so it remains to be seen if the Tiramisu shake will end up extending beyond its expected January offering.

Shake Shack prides itself on making shakes using frozen custard containing “real sugar, no corn syrup, and milk from dairy farmers who pledge not to use artificial growth hormones,” while the “fudge sauce and caramel sauce have zero shelf-life lengtheners.” From a nutritional standpoint, that is the good news.

For those concerned about the actual nutritional value of the Tiramisu shake, avert your eyes. The shake comes in at a whopping 1,000 calories. It really isn’t a surprising amount of calories for a milkshake, but it is probably best not to think about your fitness goals and diet resolutions while partaking in the sweet treat (not to mention the ShackBurger and cheese fries that you probably ordered to pair with your shake).

Does Shake Shack’s Tiramisu shake hold up against the traditional dessert? Stay tuned to The Recipe for our review of the hand-spun shake.
