Sour Patch Kids Cereal Is Coming Exclusively To Walmart

There will be a newcomer in the cereal aisle this December as after weeks of rumors, Post Consumer Brands has confirmed there is, in fact, a Sour Patch Kids cereal coming, but only at Walmart.

Sour Patch Kids have been around for a long time in candy form for as long as we remember. More recently, they have also been reimagined as candy corn and even ice cream, with both versions having their fair share of detractors among consumers. Now, the tart and tangy gummies are getting a new makeover, but this time they will be at our breakfast table. According to Post, "the “kid” shaped pieces have a sour coating and a sweet finish that every Sour Patch Kids fan will recognize."

Today reported that the company announced the cereal with the flavors of the sour and sweet gummies will be available Dec. 26. Thrillist tried the Sour Patch Kids cereal and apparently it has a smell which is pretty much similar to the candy. The cereal pieces, which are shaped like the candy, all taste the same. There’s no orange or raspberry cereal pieces. According to Thrillist the milk doesn’t turn sour, and you can still drink it at the end without your lips puckering.

The cereal is already dividing the internet even before hitting the shelves. While some consumers are getting all excited, others can't seem to hide their utter disbelief and sheer disgust. Of course, we are talking about those Twitter users who, upon hearing the news, lost no time in weighing in:

A store representative told TODAY that the Sour Patch Kids cereal will be available at other retailers across the country starting in June of 2019. One box will cost $3.98. The cereal is under Post Consumer Brands, so it’s in good company alongside Fruity Pebbles and Cocoa Pebbles. And if you are finding this flavour to be a bit weird for your morning cereal, think of it like any other dessert-like cereal-- like Oreo O’s, Chips Ahoy, and Nutter Butter cereal that many people (children and adults) already adore. However, if you would rather not have anything to do with this newbie in the cereal department, we would totally understand.

Well, here at TheRecipe, we would like to try it first before deciding if we should adopt it or exclude it from our morning routine!
