This Oven Has A Camera So You Can Watch Your Food As It Cooks, If You're Into That

Whirlpool's new Smart Countertop Oven can identify what food you want to cook and adjust the temperature and time for you.

We all have someone in our lives that simply can't cook. If you can't think of who that person is then it's probably you. However, if it is you then you probably know that. Not being able to cook well doesn't tend to be one of those traits we are ashamed of if we don't have it. We just order in, eat out, or find as many tricks and shortcuts that we possibly can.

Well, we may have found the biggest and best shortcut of them all. An oven that cooks your food for you. Okay, that description might be a little wanting. All ovens cook your food for you. However, Whirlpool's Smart Countertop Oven goes a step further. Truth be told, it goes quite a few steps further, as reported by The Verge.

The new high-tech oven decides how long it should cook your food, and at what temperature. All you need do to is pop it in. The oven will then identify what it is you want to be cooked and use an algorithm to determine what needs to be done from there. All you need to do is return and eat the food once the oven has done its thing.

If you don't entirely trust the process, or there is nothing good on TV, the oven comes with another added gadget. An internal camera. That's right, you can literally watch your food cook. We have heard of watching grass grow and paint dry, but this is a new one on us. The feed can be streamed via an app on your smartphone too, so if anything were to go wrong you can watch on and panic from miles away.

There are so many industries that are being threatened and even replaced by technology. We can't imagine many professional chefs thought that eventually, the future would come for them. Truth be told, it probably isn't. Even an oven that can cook food for you, and honestly until we have tasted something it has prepared we're not entirely convinced, is a far cry from good cooking by a human being a thing of the past.
